Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 2 Review (Spoilers)

Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 2 Review (Spoilers)

Robert Knuckles

“Just Nuts and Bolts”

I’m back with another Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode Review. I hoped everyone enjoyed my first one and I’m already here with a second one so let's dive in. Warning Spoilers ahead!!
We start off with episode Two with a laid backed Aku who doesn’t even care about killing Jack anymore. Aku is having a therapy session with himself. Aku believed that destroying the time portals Jack would eventually just die over old age but he noticed that Jack hasn’t aged at all after 50 years. The therapy Aku tells the original Aku the time travel has affected the aging process of Jack. Aku still doesn’t know that Jack has lost his sword. Which will be a huge turn around into the series when Aku finds out.
In this episode you see a wolf walking in the forest who’s pretty much the Jack in this episode. The wolf is confronted by three green like tiger creatures. At that same time Jack is once again confronted by Aku’s robot. Jack quickly defeats it but is soon confronted by The Daughters of Aku and boy did they give Jack and butt whooping. They were moving really fast and Jack could barely see them. Jack is then hiding as he’s hiding you see the younger Jack in his white robe telling the current Jack to end  it. The younger Jack keeps telling the current Jack you don’t have the sword what are you going to do when Aku finds out you don’t have the sword. The current Jack says Aku doesn’t know and he keeps sending robots thinking that they’ll kill me they are just “Nuts and Bolts Nuts and Bolts” which in my opinion is the key quote of this episode. Jack’s younger self says the only honorable thing to do is to kill yourself to join our ancestors. We once again see the horseman image. Jack then runs to an abandoned ruined temple to hide from the assassins.
We start seeing a lot of stealth when we get to the temple. Jack finds a hiding spot and each Daughter of Aku goes to a different hiding spot to ambush Jack. I thought the stealth part was really cool. Just as Jack gets out of his hiding spot he’s  looking to get out but is confronted by the assassins. Everywhere he ran there was another assassin ambushing him. Jack then falls down and soons finds a bunch of tombstones to hide in. As The daughters start searching for Jack the music becomes really dynamic. It was the perfect setting in my opinion. The Daughters start walking towards the same tombstone. I was thinking that maybe the lighting bug around that tombstone gave away Jack’s location. Jack manages to fight them off and runs as he's getting towards the exit one of Aku’s daughter’s confronts him. She was able to stab Jack but he’s soon able to slash her neck. Jack see’s blood surprising him but also when the mask breaks he see’s a human girl which surprised even more. This horrified him. Jack is badly injured and you see his blood on the wall. Jack hears the other assassins coming. Jack grabs Scaramouch’s sword tapping the wall while walking out of the temple and falling into the river before blowing up the temple right after that you see the wolf and the green tigers killed and boy do you see a lot of blood thus ending the episode.
Overall I really enjoyed this episode more than the first. You see more of the back story as to why Jack doesn’t age. I really loved the therapy session with Aku once again showing the comedy. Seeing Jack talking to his former self was really interesting. You see that Jack is fighting against himself. It seems that Jack is his own worst enemy. The fighting was awesome. I was really in love with the stealth scene. These girls are really some bad asses. The music never disappoints and just having Jack killing another human was such a huge turning point because remember Jack said they are just nuts and bolts. Jack is so used to fighting robots he didn’t realize these are human beings. Killing another human can really have a toll on someone. If Jack was his old self he might’ve spared the girl who knows? Now this isn’t Jack’s first human kill. Another Spoiler Alert. In season 4 episode “The Princess and The Bounty Hunters” Jack killed off the bounty hunters so this isn’t his first human kill from Jack. Like always I’m excited for next week’s episode. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.
