Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 3 Review (Spoilers)

Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 3 Review (Spoilers)

“The decisions you make and the actions that follow are a reflection of who you are. You cannot hide from yourself.”

It feels like it's been forever since the last time I did this. A week feels like a month. So enough about me let’s get on with last night’s episode.
We start off this episode with Jack floating across the river. Blood is just everywhere once again seeing the Adult Swim essence. Jack is still badly injured from his fight with the daughters of Aku. Jack does manage to get on his feet walking around the woods trying to find shelter while he’s walking he once again sees the horseman. We still have no answers on what that’s about. Jack manages to find a small cave to recover. He pulls the dagger out of his stomach and drops unconscious.
Jack starts hallucinating seeing his younger self again or some call it his conscious this time with piranha teeth which made it very disturbing. He tells him you actually killed a human being real flesh blood with a disturbing smile. What happens when the others find you? Will you be able to kill them? Maybe they will kill you. Or is that what you want? The time will come when Jack has to make that decision.
Jack hears footsteps heading toward him getting ready to attack but we see the wolf from last week's episode who appears to be alive. We could only guess that since Jack is alive the wolf would be alive. Jack doesn’t attack but falls back to sleep. We flashback to a younger Jack with his parents. They get ambushed by a bunch of assassins. Jack’s dad goes out to face the assassins and says “Leave now and live or stay and face your destiny.” The assassins didn’t listen and Jack’s dad kills them with the younger Jack watching and gets blood over his face.
Jack wakes up and stitches his wound falls asleep (again) and wakes up with the wolf giving him food. You see the mutual understanding between the two and quite possibly a bond. The both are fully recovered the wolf runs off and we see another flashback of younger Jack with his dad saying to him “The decisions you make and the actions that follow are a reflection of who you are. You cannot hide from yourself.”
The daughters of Aku get out of the ruins carrying their dead sister. The girls showed no remorse for their dead sister. They only said death is failure. The daughters followed Jack’s blood leading them to the forest and we see a very important scene when the daughters see a deer (they didn’t what it was). Then they see a male deer whom at first believed it was Aku’s minion because of his antlers. The two deer start showing affection towards each other and daughters of Aku didn’t know what they were doing and they didn’t like it. This just shows once again their childhood being taking away from them. The daughters see more blood and follow the trail getting out their weapons preparing to attack.
Once the trail ends it starts snowing making it the perfect setting. Jack starts talking to them using his father's same words. “Leave now and live or stay and face your destiny. The decisions you make and the actions that follow are a reflection of who you really are. You cannot hide from yourself.”
It’s quite for a few seconds then Jack comes out from beneath the snow stabs through the one daughter with a spear killing her and throwing another spear killing the other daughter. I’m literally like “HOLY S***!!!” Jack basically went the tarzan on those two girls. He runs off and the snow clears and we got a fight going on. Jack was holding his own very well. He counters one of the daughters attack with his arm and throws a small sword at her thus killing her. We see the last three daughters combine together to change their style almost like a spider and attack all at once. It appeared too much for Jack but like always he found a way to stop their attack.
Jack and the daughters run to the edge of a tree branch. He throws his weapon down the abyss. Jack throws the one daughter off the cliff and punches the other daughter. It looked she twisted her neck when Jack punched her but regardless she falls unconscious. Now the final daughter throws her weapon at Jack. He counters by having the weapon wrap around his risk. Both jump off the tree branch wrapping the weapon on the branch. Jack kicks the daughter and lands on top of the branch. The daughter's mask falls off revealing it to be Ashi. She is seen hanging on her weapon yelling at Jack “You will die!!” Jack drops Ashi’s weapons making her fall into the abyss. Jack is relieved but the branch gets weaker and breaks causing Jack to fall into the abyss to thus ending the episode.
Overall I thought this was a decent episode. It started off slow for me at the start with Jack recovering and all. His younger self was disturbing talking about killing another human but it definitely fit the scene. Now I really thought it was cool having Jack using his father's words. Jack already killed someone and he can’t hide from it. He already made that decision of killing another human being. This didn’t break Jack. I think using his father's words helped him. If Jack didn’t use his father's words who knows what could’ve happened. The action was great. Jack killing those girls man... lord have mercy. He wasn’t playing around. Jack is a straight bada**. Now for the daughters of Aku the first two that fell off the tree I think they are dead but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are still alive because yea you see them fall but didn’t see them ACTUALLY DIE. Now we definitely know that four are actually dead. I think Ashi is still alive. We see her falling too but I just don’t see her dying so fast in the series. I still believe she’ll play a huge role in this final season. Let me know what you guys think of this episode in the comments below.

Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 2 Review (Spoilers)

Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode 2 Review (Spoilers)

“Just Nuts and Bolts”

I’m back with another Samurai Jack Season 5 Episode Review. I hoped everyone enjoyed my first one and I’m already here with a second one so let's dive in. Warning Spoilers ahead!!
We start off with episode Two with a laid backed Aku who doesn’t even care about killing Jack anymore. Aku is having a therapy session with himself. Aku believed that destroying the time portals Jack would eventually just die over old age but he noticed that Jack hasn’t aged at all after 50 years. The therapy Aku tells the original Aku the time travel has affected the aging process of Jack. Aku still doesn’t know that Jack has lost his sword. Which will be a huge turn around into the series when Aku finds out.
In this episode you see a wolf walking in the forest who’s pretty much the Jack in this episode. The wolf is confronted by three green like tiger creatures. At that same time Jack is once again confronted by Aku’s robot. Jack quickly defeats it but is soon confronted by The Daughters of Aku and boy did they give Jack and butt whooping. They were moving really fast and Jack could barely see them. Jack is then hiding as he’s hiding you see the younger Jack in his white robe telling the current Jack to end  it. The younger Jack keeps telling the current Jack you don’t have the sword what are you going to do when Aku finds out you don’t have the sword. The current Jack says Aku doesn’t know and he keeps sending robots thinking that they’ll kill me they are just “Nuts and Bolts Nuts and Bolts” which in my opinion is the key quote of this episode. Jack’s younger self says the only honorable thing to do is to kill yourself to join our ancestors. We once again see the horseman image. Jack then runs to an abandoned ruined temple to hide from the assassins.
We start seeing a lot of stealth when we get to the temple. Jack finds a hiding spot and each Daughter of Aku goes to a different hiding spot to ambush Jack. I thought the stealth part was really cool. Just as Jack gets out of his hiding spot he’s  looking to get out but is confronted by the assassins. Everywhere he ran there was another assassin ambushing him. Jack then falls down and soons finds a bunch of tombstones to hide in. As The daughters start searching for Jack the music becomes really dynamic. It was the perfect setting in my opinion. The Daughters start walking towards the same tombstone. I was thinking that maybe the lighting bug around that tombstone gave away Jack’s location. Jack manages to fight them off and runs as he's getting towards the exit one of Aku’s daughter’s confronts him. She was able to stab Jack but he’s soon able to slash her neck. Jack see’s blood surprising him but also when the mask breaks he see’s a human girl which surprised even more. This horrified him. Jack is badly injured and you see his blood on the wall. Jack hears the other assassins coming. Jack grabs Scaramouch’s sword tapping the wall while walking out of the temple and falling into the river before blowing up the temple right after that you see the wolf and the green tigers killed and boy do you see a lot of blood thus ending the episode.
Overall I really enjoyed this episode more than the first. You see more of the back story as to why Jack doesn’t age. I really loved the therapy session with Aku once again showing the comedy. Seeing Jack talking to his former self was really interesting. You see that Jack is fighting against himself. It seems that Jack is his own worst enemy. The fighting was awesome. I was really in love with the stealth scene. These girls are really some bad asses. The music never disappoints and just having Jack killing another human was such a huge turning point because remember Jack said they are just nuts and bolts. Jack is so used to fighting robots he didn’t realize these are human beings. Killing another human can really have a toll on someone. If Jack was his old self he might’ve spared the girl who knows? Now this isn’t Jack’s first human kill. Another Spoiler Alert. In season 4 episode “The Princess and The Bounty Hunters” Jack killed off the bounty hunters so this isn’t his first human kill from Jack. Like always I’m excited for next week’s episode. Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.

Jack’s Back

Samurai Jack is back after over a decade absence. I honestly thought this day would never come but I’m glad I was wrong. I mean we never got a true ending so they needed another season. Now let’s talk the premiere of Samurai Jack Season 5 on Adult Swim. Note Spoilers ahead.
The episode starts off with a family running away from Aku’s robots. They were ready to accept their fate until an armored warrior riding a motorcycle comes in time to save them. As the robots scratch off the mask the family notice that it’s Jack…. A really aged Jack. He’s got the beard game growing strong and his hair looks pretty bad. Now at the bat you notice Jack doesn’t use a motorcycle and the biggest thing that struck me is that he’s using a gun….  Correct me if I’m wrong but Jack doesn’t use guns or at least I haven’t seen him using it in the past seasons. Jack makes pretty easy work of Aku’s robots and rides off.
We get going to the intro of the series. Instead of Aku saying the intro we have Jack speaking. “50 years have passed but I do not age. Time has lost its effect on me, yet the suffering continues. Aku's grasp chokes the past, present and future. All hope is lost. Got to get back. Back to the past. Samurai Jack.”
After hearing the intro I could already tell that this is going to be a dark themed show. I just got that vibe and I was excited.
After the intro we see a stone pillar of Aku with a bunch of women dressed like him. We see a women giving birth to seven baby girls. The mother whose name wasn’t mentioned said to the statue of Aku that these seven girls will finish what you started.

Jack rides into a forest to drink some water. There he starts having hallucinations of his parents and the people of his kingdom saying that you’ve abandoned us and left us to die.. He tells his father that Aku had destroyed all the time portals which prevents Jack from going home. While he’s having hallucinations we keep seeing a horseman which we can only guess will be a key factor in this show as it progresses. That right there was a huge moment because what can you do if you’re Jack? Without the time portals how can Jack return home? After dealing with his hallucinations Jack rides off.
While Jack is riding off the seven baby girls who are the daughters of Aku have already aged into little girls. They are being trained by their mother to kill Jack. Failure means death for the girls. There is no room for the weak. You already know that their childhood has been taken from them. As the girls are training they are confronted by a huge monster. As they are fighting them one of the girls notice the light and sees peace but the mother tells Ashi only one out of the seven whose name we have heard to not lose sight of her goal. You see Ashi being tested again as a teenager when she’s hanging on a cliff her mother strikes a staff on her hand saying “are you weak?” Bringing the fire of Aku in all of them.
Jack comes across a destroyed village that was caused by a robot assassin named Scaramouch. Destroying the temple would get Jack’s attention. Scaramouch is a Sammy Davis Jr musical themed character. Bringing the comedy in the show. I’m glad they did that although this a dark themed show we still get the comedy to show there is still some Cartoon Network essence there. Before Jack faces off Scaramouch he asked Jack a very important question. Where is your sword? We see a flashback of Jack losing his sword but we never see what was the cause of it. I’m sure we’ll get it soon. Scaramouch calls Aku to tell him the news but Jack destroys the phone and they start fighting. As they are fighting Jack is hallucinated again with children from his village telling him to save them and once again we see the horseman. Jack defeats Scaramouch and rides off. Back to Aku’s shrine The Daughters of Aku have completed their training and run off to kill Jack thus ending the first episode.
Overall I liked this premiere episode. We see a different side of Jack who has lost all hope. His fighting style is different using firearms. Like I said before we don’t see Jack using guns. I liked the daughters of Aku as well. In a way you feel sorry for them because you already get a feeling that a sad fate awaits them but maybe not Ashi. She’s the only one with a name. She also seems to be the leader. I get a feeling she’ll be an important character in this season. We also don’t know how Jack lost his sword and who is this horseman? There are many questions unanswered but I’m very excited for the next episodes! Let me know what you guys think of the premiere.
